Arco Annual Golf Tournament 2014 Strengthens Ties Through Initiative, Collaboration and Fun

"The achievements of an organization are the results of the combined effort of each individual."
– Vince Lombardi

When Arco's founder, Tom Freeman, hosted the first company golf tournament in 1998, it was because he knew the value of recreation between colleagues. He understood that when you treat people well, you build up their pride, loyalty and productivity. He was committed to fostering an atmosphere that embraces initiative and collaboration – along with a good solid dose of fun.

Sixteen Golf Outings later, his son and Arco President, Allen Freeman, has steadily built on this seemingly simple idea. The Arco Annual Golf Outing is something that his employees, employee family members and vendors look forward to every May.

This year Arco ventured out to Collins Hill Golf Club, Lawrenceville, GA. The format – as always – was a scramble, with golfers divided into teams of four with witty names like The Spot Welds, The Vinyl Backs, The Header Seals and The Fluorocarbons. Each individual has strengths and weaknesses, but it is truly team-building to sit around in the hours, weeks, and years afterward and recount the ways in which each player contributed during the match.

Ultimately, the Arco golf outing is a real reflection of how each personality is an invaluable part of Arco Steel Buildings. The outing embodies how we celebrate our differences, strive to be better at our jobs and come together to pick up where, perhaps, another leaves off for the sake of the goal: to be successful!
