Bringing Steel Back. U.S. Steel is eager to bring jobs back to America—up to ten thousand jobs according to U.S. Steel CEO Mario Longhi. Already confidence is building, as U.S. Steel's stock has experienced an 80 percent increase since President Trump's win last November.
During CNBC's "Power Lunch" in December, Longhi expressed optimism over a potential change to regulations that some feel have strangled the United States' Steel Industry while allowing China to increase its market share. Longhi also hinted that he would be open to potentially re-hiring laid-off employees in lieu of what many feel could be a good sign for U.S. companies.
"We already structured to do some things, but when you see in the near future improvement to the tax laws, improvements to regulation, those two things by themselves may be a significant driver to what we're going to do. I'd be more than happy to bring back the employees we've been forced to lay off."
